Dance Classes

For the last two years it has been possible to attend dance classes in the village of Longo Mai. The tourists, volunteers, Zivis (Austrians completing the civil service) alike enjoy learning typical dances such as merengue, salsa and cumbia. The four dance teachers Juan, Rodolfo, Rolando and Sara decided to undertake a dance course in San Isidro, to obtain an official qualification that would also enable them in the future to teach dances such as Bolero, Cha Cha Cha and Bachata.

As they do not have an official place where they can hold these classes, Wolfgang and Juan initiated a project to build a Youth and cultural centre, which could also be used for dance lessons as well as other activities for young people. A percentage of the earnings will be used for the maintenance of the centre and another part to help poor families in the village.
